Willy Chavarria Turns Paris Fashion Week into a Heavenly American Bash with Star-Studded Drama!

When Willy Chavarria decided to light up Paris this season, you might think he’d embrace all things French – but guess again! Nope, he didn’t go all Eiffel Tower on us. Instead, he plunged headfirst into his American roots, setting the stage at the American Church in Paris. This historical hotspot, dating back to 1814, was where Chavarria dropped the curtain on his latest show, Tarantula.
And this isn’t his first religious rodeo, either. Chavarria’s SS23 show graced a Manhattan church, so he’s practically clergy-approved. As the grand doors to AW25 opened, before you even took your seat, the altar teeming with floral bouquets was a sight for whispered "amens." Roses, carnations, and red grapes called dibs on the altar, alongside candelabras and plush, red seats snuggled close to the attendees.
The night’s crescendo began with a flowing scarlet-gowned singer stealing the show before the iconic aisle welcomed Chavarria’s signature boxy suits, giant corsages, and audacious 70s collars. But oh no, this was no ordinary Paris Fashion Week runway. Willy pulled out the big guns, with a star-studded entourage making the trip to the French capital.
First down the aisle was former Dazed cover star Indya Moore rocking a black funeral coat perfect for all those “who wore it best” discussions. Then Colombian superstar J Balvin swanned in with a wide-lapel tux, channeling his inner Blue Steel. British model and activist Kai-Isaiah Jamal owned the space with a massive 'fro, right before the stunning Honey Dijon strutted in head-to-toe red denim. And keeping us blessed with appearances were Alva Claire, Paloma Elsesser, and a legion of talents like photographer Luis Alberto Rodriguez, fashion TikToker Lyas, Dominican model Lineisy Montero, plus local boys from Paris and NY.
After J Balvin held an intermission party only he could pull off, the vibe shifted with an iluminated twist. The lights dimmed to red, the runway’s velvet zoot suits vanished, and a mischievous energy took over. Chavarria’s collaboration with adidas resurfaced as streetwear magic unfolded with unzipped slouchy tracksuits and brawny boxers flexing in nothing but billowing shorts. Even in a church, Chavarria couldn’t resist adding a bit of cheeky flair to his show – and frankly, who could blame him?
