Get ready for an explosion of style and culture! The Trinity African Students Association (TASA) has once again dazzled everyone with their electrifying fashion fiesta. Afro-Week 2024 culminated in the 11th annual fashion show at Mather Hall, and trust us, it was nothing short of spectacular. With the evocative theme "The Vibrant Continent," the stage came alive in an enchanting display of color, culture, and expression. The night didn’t stop there—the party continued with an epic after-party at Hartford’s Webster Hall that marked the perfect end to a thrilling night.
The show had a fantastic turnout as about 75 enthusiastic Trinity students cheered on their peers strutting down the runway like pros. Weeks of preparation paid off as students confidently showcased traditional clothing, lighting up the runway with grace and style. Each model brought something unique to the show, channeling the distinct flair and story of their outfits.
We caught up with Selam Olson '28, a dazzling first-time model, who spilled the tea on what went down behind the scenes. Models were given distinct styles to capture the essence of the designers' visions. From a stoic, straight face to an upbeat vibe, each walk was a performance in itself. Some strutted solo, while others brought dynamism as duos in perfectly coordinated outfits.
Olson rocked attire from Obioma, a chic Nigerian brand that fuses traditional Nigerian styles with contemporary Western elements. She shared that the show was a dynamic platform for cultural appreciation, where diversity was celebrated, and everyone could embrace and express their unique backgrounds.
Olson wanted to send a big thanks to the audience who made the night unforgettable. Don't miss future TASA events—follow their Instagram at @trincollasa to stay in the loop!
